Now I know that Taom Snooker Chalk has been mentioned many times on the Pro circuit, some players love it, whilst others cannot get used to it. But what about in the Amateur game – are there benefits for using this new type of Snooker chalk ?
So I decided to take the plunge and try it for myself….
Pros
- Reduces ‘kicks’
- Does not leave loads of chalk marks or chalk dust on the table
- Reduces the amount of chalk you get on your hands
- One piece seems to last a long time
- Seems to ‘grip’ the cue ball very well
- Great for use with Aramith Snooker Balls
Cons
- Can be expensive to buy
- More prone to the occasional ‘miscue’
- Does not seem like you applying much chalk to the tip at first
Comparison
In comparison to other snooker chalks, for example standard brands such as Diamond & Green Triangle Chalk, it is clearly a completely different type of chalk. It feels premium grade, and this reflects on the price.
Conclusion
Having used this chalk for around a month now, I can honestly say it has improved my game. When I was using other snooker chalks like the Green Triangle Chalk, I was getting kicks at almost every snooker session or sometimes when playing a match. So far, I have not experienced any kicks with this chalk – there is less mess too, minimal to no chalk dust on my hands, and no chalk marks or dust left on the cloth.
I seem to be striking the cue ball better too, it feels like I am getting a more solid contact on the object ball, and also find that I don’t need to hit the white ball as hard to get any desired spin.
If you are an experienced player, or even just starting out in the game, I would certainly recommend this chalk. After all, it will probably improve your game as it has mine.

Hi,
I love to play this game Snooker. Sometimes I played snooker in the club. because it is expensive to buy. For that at my home, there is no snooker. From your article, I can learn more things about Taom Snooker Chalk. I am going to share this informational article with my snooker lover friends. Thank you for this wonderful article.
Hi Tim, very interesting review about Taom Snooker Chalk. I used to play snooker with friends when I was in high school but that`s all, I never watched it as a sport game. Anyway, as I understood this snooker chalk is more improved and has more benefits compared with standard snooker chalks. Instead of higher price I think it is worth to buy it if you play snooker many times. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you Luke for your comments & feedback.
Thank you, for sharing your post on Taom Snooker Chalk. I’m an amateur pool player, I may only play about 4 times a year. But I am looking to add a pool table to my home and know I need chalk. I never thought about the marks left behind on the table. Guess it makes it look ugly. What’s a snooker session? I really would have to read more, you are light on information, but I did learn some new things. Thank you . ~LeNard
Hello there,
great article but unfortunately was too short. It’s been quite long since I played snooker, before that I used to play Billiard. For me, Snooker was more enjoyable and interesting, but I have never used this kind of chalk, it will be great if I got a chance to have one of these chalk. thanks again for the info
